Life in these uncertain times can be filled with so much fear, anxiety. and depression. And many of us are looking for ways to help ease our minds.
One of the ways that I help reduce my anxiety issues is meditation, mindfulness, and prayer. (If you have heard of but don’t know much about meditation, go here and read this for a quick breakdown.)
Studies show that meditation can have numerous benefits for both the mind and body. It can reduce stress, improve focus and concentration, lower blood pressure, and promote emotional well-being.
Additionally, meditation has been linked to increased feelings of calm and relaxation, improved sleep, and even decreased symptoms of anxiety and depression. With all of these benefits, it’s no wonder that so many people are being turned on to meditation.
For me, one of the easiest ways to practice meditation is with a meditation app on my phone. I have found several that I think are really helpful.
My Top 5 Recommendations
1. Headspace Meditation App
This app is FREE, but does have the option to subscribe for full access. It provides you with various guided meditations, mindfulness, breathing exercises and more.
2. Calm App
This app is also one that you can use for FREE but it has the option to upgrade to premium for full access. Customize meditations, music, etc to get a personalized experience.
3. Sanvello App
Free to use, but like the others have an option for an upgrade. Besides meditation, music, and peer support, this app allows you to connect with an online therapist if desired. Or send any info you want to share with your local therapist.
4. SoulTime (Christian App)
This FREE meditation app (that also has an option for upgrade) offers mood check-ins, recommendations for meditations, Bible access, including audio Bible (included with free option).
5. Abide (Christian App)
Abide app can help you find purpose, reduce anxiety, sleep better and connect with God via biblical meditations.
I love Calm and Headspace! I haven’t used them in so long but once I get my new phone I’ll definitly be giving them a go again!
This is interesting! I’ve tried an app before wherein you can play different kinds of sounds (nature, water, birds, etc) and it helps when you need focus or sleep. Might check out these suggestions. ๐
I meditate everyday and have been thinking about getting an app for when I want to do a guided meditation. Thanks for the suggestions!
