Do Not Fear…Easier Said Than Done

don't panic sign

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

Life is a bit challenging and quite a bit scary right now. As I am writing this, the US and the World are dealing with a pandemic of the Coronavirus. The uncertainty of it all has gotten may of us feeling scared and/or anxious.

First, we may be concerned about contracting the virus or someone we love contracting it. Second, we are seeing our everyday world as we know it coming to a literal stand still.

Schools are closed, all sporting activities are suspended, many businesses are closed, churches are closed. Stores are wiped out of essentials like toilet paper ( of all things). It feels like we are living in an alternate universe. Bizarro world, if you don’t mind the comic reference.

While this is an unprecedented time in our history and is very unnerving we have to try make the best of it, because there is little we can do to change what is happening.

Take Stock

I encourage you to take a minute to take stock of life right now. Can you think of anything positive that can come as a result of our current state of social isolation? Maybe you get to spend more time with your family, friends or other loved ones. Maybe you get to have actual time to get a few projects done that you have been meaning to get to. Maybe you have the time for some self-care.

God tells us in scripture many times that we will have difficulties in life, but that we should not fear. He tells us basically, to trust Him and He will see us through.

That is what I am choosing today. Yes, I am going to follow recommended guidelines to stay safe and healthy. Yes, I am going to try to look at the isolation as a way to get back in touch with what is important in life.

And YES! I am going to trust God to get us through this crisis.

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

We can and we will get through this. Stronger than ever.

Stay safe everyone!
