One of my favorite pastimes is listening to podcasts, as they offer a unique and engaging way to learn, be entertained, and stay informed. Whether I’m on a long commute or just relaxing at home, there’s always a podcast to fit my mood and interests. From true crime to comedy, science to self-improvement, there’s something for everyone in the world of podcasting.

What I am into these days is podcasts that can be utilized as a part of my self-care and self-improvement. In this post, I’ll be sharing some of my personal favorite podcasts and why I love them.

Self-Care/Self-Improvement Podcasts

Brooke Shields the iconic actress well known for her beauty has had her share of difficulties in her life and has faced hard decisions.

Now What? is a podcast about finding ways to move forward when things don’t go according to plan. Brooke sits down with a variety of people, authors, entertainers, and experts about how they managed to pivot after their Now What? moments in life.

I found this podcast to be intriguing and at times reminiscent. Definitely worth a listen. (Brooke has also written a few books that go into her life including her bout with post partum depression.)

Author, Glennon Doyle, (Untamed) hosts a podcast that is named after her mantra, We Can Do Hard Things.

Glennon, along with her wife & sister, discusses getting through the hard things in life, overcoming, pushing through, and finding our way. She also hosts guests such as Lily Collins, Kaitlin Curtice, and Michele Obama.

Want to read a few of Glennon’s books?

Jamie Ivey is a host, author, and speaker who writes and speaks about faith, parenting & marriage. The topics she covers on the podcast include those and so much more. They are the type of conversations you might have while chatting with a girlfriend about life.

Jamie also has a number of guests that she interviews with those in the faith world as well as authors and clinicians.

I find her conversations interesting & thoughtful. To learn more about her writings, you can check out her books here.

This podcast is hosted by Dr. Anita Phillips who is a trauma therapist and life coach who talks with her special guests about thriving in love, life, and relationships.

She and her guests help the listener find new ways to not get stuck in the anxieties and trauma in our lives.

I first heard her as a guest on the Paula Faris: Faith & Calling Podcast (also worth a listen).

Author & Pastor, Max Lucado has written and spoken many words of faith over the years, and in this latest podcast Encouraging Word.

In this time of uncertainty, Max speaks with his calming and comforting voice as he shares his biblical insights and encouraging messages of hope in the Savior.

The Encountering You podcast is hosted by Laura Willimas, a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in developmental and relational trauma. While listening to the podcast, I almost feel as if I am attending a counseling session with her.

She is a Christian woman who holds Christian perspectives, but her therapy is truly for anyone regardless of age, gender, or religious persuasion.
