The Holiday Season can be a lonely time for many. With family and friends often far away, how can we find ways to connect with those we care about?
Acknowledge Others
I have found that simple acts of kindness can truly make someone’s day and connect us in a profound way. It can let others know they are in our thoughts and on our minds.
In this current era in which we live, we may quickly send a Facebook, Instagram or text message to those we would like to keep in contact with. But I challenge you to do something a little more personal.
Back in the “old days,” when I was growing up, we used to receive cards in the mail during the holiday season. Occasionally we’d get a card for Thanksgiving from a family member who couldn’t be in town for the festivities, but primarily, we received lots of Christmas cards from family and friends near and far.
Today, though we do still receive a few cards during the holidays, it is nothing in comparison to the years gone by.
As a kid, it was something that I looked forward to. Each card we received we would proudly hang up on a doorway until both sides were lined with cards. There would be well wishes, personal notes and maybe even a photo included.
Share The Love & Kindness
Each year, I send out a few Christmas cards, but this year I am challenging myself to send out more. I know how good it makes me feel to receive a personal letter or a card in the mail, so I plan on sharing the love more abundantly this season.
I recently discovered this company called Basic Invite. They sell some of the best Holiday Cards, Stationery, Business Cards and Invitations of all kinds. They even offer Free Event Websites where your guests can respond and reply to your invite. So cool!
One of the things I love about this site is that they have nearly unlimited color customization options, that is what one of the most unique things about this company. And…You can even request a sample of your card or invite to be sure it is just what you want before placing your final order.
My son is graduating from high school this year and I plan on ordering his graduation invitations from Basic Invite. I love that they can capture and print the mailing addresses on the envelopes for FREE. That will save a lot of time and eliminate hand cramping. ✍ Ouch!
Make a Difference
Do you have anyone in mind that you would like to send a Christmas card to? Do you have co-workers that you’d like to send an Office Holiday Card to?
Everyone loves a bit of cheer this time of year so I encourage you to send a letter or a card to a loved one, a friend, a neighbor, a co-worker, your dog-sitter or just about anyone in your life.
If you chose to shop with Basic Invite for your stationery or card needs, they are currently offering a whopping 30% off for Finding the Fearless Life readers when you use promo code: holi30.
The simple act of acknowledging someone in your life can brighten their day and yours as well.
Who are you going to connect with this year?
This is so thoughtful! The amount of Christmas cards (or any mail that isn’t a bill or coupons) we receive is practically zero.
I didn’t even consider that family and friends might like to receive one.
This year I think I’ll start sending them. I’m hoping it will bring them joy and help keep family close.
Thank you so much for sharing!
Such a lovely post. There are so many ways we can express our love and kindness towards someone this season. It can be as simple as popping in for a cup of tea with someone you know is lonely.
Great post.
